KindergartenIn kindergarten students are learning early literacy skills. These skills are important for emerging readers and writers. They are developing the foundation upon which their future reading success rests. The Wilson Fundations program is used in Kindergarten classrooms and again during small group reading instruction. Groups in kindergarten focus on the following:
- Phonological awareness
- Letter names and sounds
- Reading and spelling simple words (mat, run, dog)
- Vocabulary
- Beginning reading strategies
